Gentlemen / Importers and distributors of beauty products

    Greetings,

Asharqia Chamber presents you with its best regards and informs you of receiving the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (42104313) dated (14/11/1442), a reference to the letter of the Food and Drug General Authority No. (31240/p) and dated (13/11/1442). It includes the authority’s efforts to monitor and follow up the safety of locally marketed cosmetic products based on the cosmetic products system issued by Royal Decree No. (M/49) and dated (18/6/1436). Samples of henna products traded in local markets were collected and analyzed to ensure their safety. The results of the analysis showed that a henna product called “HENNA AL MADINA” contained a high percentage of bacteria that exceeded the maximum allowed in the Regulation of Safety Requirements for Cosmetics and Personal Care No. (SFDA.CO/GSO 1943:2016). High levels of bacteria may cause health risks to the consumer, and for the importance of emphasizing all establishments engaged in the activity of trading cosmetic products to prevent the sale of the product described above and return it to its suppliers, as well as importers and distributors of the product to withdraw it from sales outlets and warehouses and coordinate with the authority - the operations sector - to destroy it avoiding penalties.

    Sincerely yours
